Daoxin Dai received the B.Eng. degree from the Department of Optical Engineering of Zhejiang University (ZJU, China) in 2000 and then become a Ph. D. student in the same department. In 2004 he became an exchange Ph.D. student in the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH, Sweden) and obtained his Ph. D. degree there in 2005. Later he joined in ZJU as an assistant professor and became an associate professor in Aug. 2007. He worked at Bowers Group in the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) as a visiting scholar during the years 2008~2011. Daoxin Dai became a full professor in the College of Optical Science & Engineering of ZJU in Dec. 2011.
Currently Prof. Daoxin Dai is leading the silicon integrated nanophotonics group at Zhejiang University, China. He is the Principle Investigators of more than ten projects, including several National Natural Science Foundation Projects and a national 863-prgram project. His group is working on silicon integrated nanophotonic devices/circuits for optical communications, optical interconnections, as well as optical sensing. As one of the earliest researchers from China in this field, Prof. Daoxin Dai has published over 150 refereed international journals papers (including 11 review/invited articles). His papers have been featured/highlighted/top-downloaded ~20 times by SPIE Newsroom, IEEE Photonics Society News, and AAPPS Bulletin, and he has been invited to give ~50 invited talks on silicon photonics at many top international conferences including OFC 2016. Prof. Daoxin Dai’s papers have been cited by >4770 times (Google Scholar) and >3040 times (Web of Science). As a result, he is one of Most Cited Chinese Researchers in 2014/2015/2016 (from Elsevier’s report).
Prof. Daoxin Dai has severed as a program committee member or session chair on some top international conferences, like OFC/NFOEC 2013/2014/2015 (USA), IPR 2016. He has been working as the Executive/Associate Editor of "IEEE Photonics Technology Letters", “Optical and Quantum Electronics” and "Photonics Research".
Prof. Daoxin Dai is awarded by National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars (2014), the first-class Zhejiang Provincial Award for Scientific Research at Universities (2012), the award for the Outstanding Young Scientist of Zhejiang Province (2009), Jin-Guofan Fellowship for Young Scholars (2008), Zhejiang Provincial Outstanding Youth Foundation (2008), the first-class Zhejiang Provincial Prize of Science & Technology (2007). He has also been selected by the New-Century 151-Talent Program of Zhejiang Province (2012), the first Qian-Jiang Talent Program (2006).
