Roland ('Haoji') Hu was born in Chongqing, China, in 1979. He received his BSc degree in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University, China, in 2002. In 2007, he obtained his PhD in audio-visual person identification from the University of Southampton, UK. From 2007 to 2009, he was a postdoctral researcher in  Communications and Romote Sensing Laboratory, Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium. From 2009, he joined Department of Information Science and Electronic Engineering, Zhejiang University as an Assistant Professor. He has been promoted to Associate Professorship since 2013.

His research interests include biometrics (face and speaker recognition), image segmentation and digital watermarking. Dr. Hu has published more than 30 research papers in world-renowned journal and conferences, which include Pattern Recognition, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, CVPR, ICME, ICPR, ICASSP, ICIP, etc. He also serves as reviewer for world-renowned journals and conferences such as JVCI, TIFS, ICIP, ICME, etc.

Dr. Hu has obtained several national scientific projects and is the holder of 5 national patents.
