Research interests
1 The coupling of plateau uplift, foreland basin deposition and paleoclimate change: the uplift, growth and extension of Tibetan Plateau, sedimentology of Cenozoic sequences in the northeast margin of the plateau, the relationship between Tibetan Plateau uplift and the formation and intensification of East Asian monsoon and mid-Asian aridity;
2 Structural geology of thrust belts and foreland basin: using outcrops and seismic profile to reveal the architecture of thrust belts and foreland basin, using balanced section technique to determine their evolution;
3 Thermochronology: using thermochronologic methods to reveal the process of mountain building, e.g. fission track, U-Th/He etc;
4 Magnetostratigraphy: to date sediments and provide time-scale for sedimentologic, tectonic and paleoclimatic events;
5 Oil and gas exploration and perspective on the basis of plate tectonics, structural geology and sedimentology:
