Dr. Lu Wei earned his Ph.D. in communication from Washington State University in 2007. He taught at Huazhong University of Science & Technology, Washington State University, and University of Rhode Island as lecturer, teaching assistant, and assistant professor respectively. He is currently a Professor and Associate Dean in the College of Media and International Culture, and the director of the Institute of Journalism at Zhejiang University. His research interests include the social shaping and consequences of new media technologies. Dr. Wei has published articles in Journal of Computer-Mediated CommunicationMass Communication and SocietyInformation ResearchTelematics and Informatics,Newspaper Research JournalThe Chinese Journal of Communication and Society, etc. He also serves as an editorial board member for China Media Research, and a reviewer forJournal of Computer-mediated Communication, Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media, and Computers in Human Behavior. Dr. Wei is currently a Vice President of China New Media Communication Association, a steering committee member of China Journalism Research Association, and a member of AEJMC, ICA, and CCA. He was the President of The Chinese Students and Scholars Association at WSU.
