Laboratory of Development and Organogenesis (LDO) is located in the historical city Hangzhou. Hangzhou is located on the east coast of China and to the south of the Yangtze River Delta, about 170 kilometers (105 miles) away from Shanghai. Our lab is affiliated with the Medical School of Zhejiang University, Institution of Genetics. Zhejiang University is a comprehensive research university with national and international impact, especially for its life science.


Our research interests are to understand the molecular natures of the territorial specification signals that define regions of an embryo and identities of the organs in vivo, and application of these territorial signals, spatially and temporally, to build functional organs from embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and/or induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) in vitro for regenerative medicine and human organ replacement.
