Professor Zhiyu Wang has been engaged in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Zheiang UniversitySince 1992. He obtained his Ph. D in Materials Science from the same University in 1999. In 2004, he has been a short time Visiting Researcher at the Photon Craft Project, ICORP, JST in Japan. In 2007, he got his current professional title of Professor. He is the coordinator of many national projects and the author of more than 120 scientific papers (more than 90 on ISI journals). He also has 22 patents.

His main research interests include1) to involve in construction on graduate programs and subjects of study in the materials physics and chemistry of nano functional materials and hybrid organic-inorganic materials, 2) to study hybrid organic-inorganic photonic materials (solid tunable laser media, luminescence materials and nonlinear optical materials); photonic glasses; photonic crystals; optical spectroscopy; surface and interface of materials; novel properties in nanostructures; and device-related material problems, 3) to develop application technology for new functional composite building materials, and contribute to the industrial prosperity through collaboration with companies.
