Profile

Dr. Xing Chen is an associate professor at Department of Biomedical Engineering, Zhejiang University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 2008. He had a post-doctoral experience at Department of Epidemiology, Division of Cancer Prevention, University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center from Nov. 2008 to Nov. 2011. Dr. Chen has been awarded grants from National Natural Science Foundation of China, Doctoral Fund of Ministry of Education of China, and Zhejiang Key Science and Technology Innovation Team. He published nearly 20 peer reviewed journal articles. He has also applied 10 patents and 6 of them have been issued. He is a regular reviewer of many journals, such as Cancer Research, Cancer, Lung Cancer, PLoS One, and International Journal of Cancer.

 

Research work

My research interests include cancer epidemiology and prevention, advanced technologies of detection of biomarkers, and their applications in clinical practice, especially in the area of an early detection of lung cancer. A part of my research is to collaborate with hospitals to carry out both prospective and case-control studies often on a large-scale. We currently have conducted a research on lung cancer screening combining breath detection with computed tomography detection. Another part of my research focus on the realization and optimization of detection technologies into designed medical instruments or devices. We have collaborated with clinicians to target the developing requirements and conducted clinical trials to verify the utility of the devices.
