Research work

My primary research interest concerns species delimitation (what is species and how to delineate species) and speciation mechanisms (how new plant species arise). By integrating phylogenetic- and population genetic-based approaches, we seek to understand the nature of species and the evolutionary forces underlying lineage and phenotypic diversification using Smilax, Ginkgo biloba and Scrophularia as study systems. I am also fascinated by the variation of plant secondary metabolites and their roles in the processes of speciation and evolution.
