Junming Zhang was born in Zhejiang, China, in 1975. He received the M.S. degree and Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2000 and 2004 respectively.

In 2004, he becomes a faculty of College of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University as a lecture. He was promoted as full professor of the College of Electrical Engineering in Zhejiang University in 2014.

In 2010, he is working in Michigan State Univeristy in Prof. Fangzheng Peng's PE lab as a visiting scholar.

His research interests include power management, power electronics for EV/HEV applicaitons, high efficiency conversion technology, renewable energy its application etc. He has published more than 150 journal and conference papers. Also, he is the holder of 80 China patent and 43 US patent. 

He received the second level Science and Technology Development Awards from the China Education Commission in 2003. As the key member, he also received two first-level awards from Zhejiang Province Government in 2012 and 2013 respectively.  In 2015, he received the outstanding young scholar award from China Power Supply Society for his outstanding research achievements in power electronics and power supply fields. He also received the second prize of the National Natural Science Award as a key member in 2016.

He is the secretary of IEEE Zhejiang Sub-section, the committee member of China power electronics society, member of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Technical Committee on Renewable Energy Systems. He servers as topic Chair of IEEE International Future Energy Challenge (IFEC) in 2013, general Co-Chair of IFEC’2015. He also serves as Associate Editor of the IEEE transactions on Ind. Applications.
