President of The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Distinguished Young Scholar of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and Changjiang Distinguished Scholar by the Ministry of Education. He has been awarded the Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Progress Award, Tan Jiazhen Life Science Award, Wu Jieping – Paul Janssen Medical and Pharmaceutical Award, and WuXi AppTec Life Science and Chemistry Award. He is Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), Vice President of Chinese Research Hospital Association and Chair of its Society of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery, Director of Zhejiang Key Laboratory of Pancreatic Disease, and Director of the Joint International Research Laboratory of Pancreatic Diseases of the Ministry of Education.

He has led over 30 research projects including the 863 Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Key Program of NSFC, National Key R&D Program, etc. He has published over 200 SCI-indexed papers as the first or corresponding author. He has also won the Second Prize for Progress in Science and Technology of China as a primary contributor, along with 5 provincial and ministerial First Prizes as the first contributor (including 2 Natural Science Awards).
