Dr. Xiangning He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Nanjing University of Aeronautical and Astronautical, Nanjing, China, in 1982 and 1985 respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 1989.

From 1985 to 1986, he was an Assistant Engineer at the 608 Institute of Aeronautical Industrial General Company, Zhuzhou, China. From 1989 to 1991, he was a Lecturer at Zhejiang University. In 1991, he obtained the Royal Fellowship from the Royal Society of U.K., and conducted research in the Department of Computing and Electrical Engineering, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, U.K., as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow for two years. In 1994, he joined Zhejiang University as an Associate Professor. Since 1996, he has been a Full Professor in the College of Electrical  Engineering, Zhejiang University. He was the Director of the Power Electronics Research Institute, the Head of the Department of Applied Electronics, Vice Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and he is currently the Director of the National Specialty Laboratory for Power Electronics, Zhejiang University. Dr. He worked as a visiting/guest professor for cooperation research inU.K. in 1997 and 1998, in U.S.A. in 1999 and in Australia in 2002.

His research interest is Power Electronics and its Industrial Applications, which includes High Power Converters and Intelligent Control, the Special Power Supply and Networking System, the Modeling, and Simulation and Testing of Power Electronic Device, Circuit and System.

Dr. He is the PI of 12 international joint projects with universities and companies in U.S.A., U.K., Japan, Netherlands and so on. He is the PI for more than 50 national, provincial and industrial research and development projects. His achievements in power electronics modeling and simulation, as well as active and passive lossless soft-switching of power converters are highly recognized by international and national experts in power electronics community. His achievements in multi-level converters topologies and PWM control, regulation methods and circuits formation of high step-up power conversion, and distributed structure and control of power electronics system are widely cited and applied worldwide. His achievements applied to the organic material processing, environmental protection and renewable electricity generation, which are the cross-disciplinary subjects, have made great contribution to the nation. He has published more than 480 papers indexed by SCI and/or EI, and held more than 50 patents. His research and development work has won the State Natural Science Award, State Technology Invention Award, Golden Prize of Geneva International Invention Exhibition, and four provincial and ministerial Scientific and Technological Progress awards.

Dr. He was the supervisor for two Ph.D. students received the "National Nomination Award for 100 Excellent Ph.D. Dissertations" in 2007 and 2010 respectively. He was appointed as a supervisor for Zhejiang  Province "151 Talents" program in 2011. He was the "Distinguished Lecturer" by IEEE Power Electronics Society from 2011 to 2015.

Dr. He has received many honors, including the “Young Scientific and Technological Talent” from Zhejiang Natural Science Foundation in 1998, "Delta Scholar" from the Delta Environment and Education Foundation in 2002, Talent of the Provincial "New Century 151 Project" from Zhejiang Province Talent Program in 2004, and "Distinguished Scholar" from Zhejiang University in 2011. In 2013, he received a Special Grant Honor from China State Council. In 2018, he was elected "Zhejiang Top Level Expert". He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), U.S.A. and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology IET (formerly IEE), U.K..
