Dr. Chang-Zhi Li is currently a full professor at Zhejiang University. Dr. Li has made pioneer contribution on n-doping of organic semiconductors through anion-induced electron transfer from Lewis base anions, and developed the notable semiconducting (and conducting) organic materials and strategies for high-performance organic and perovskite solar cells. He has been recognized by several prestigious programs, such as 100 Talents Program by Zhejiang University, Zhejiang Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, China Natural Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars and China Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. Dr. Li's research group has continually developed champion organic solar minimodules with the certified efficiency records that have been documented in the "Solar Cell Efficiency Table" by Prof. Martin Green (59th, 60th, 61st and 62nd editions), China's highest efficiency table for solrar cells, as well as fabricated high-performance perovskite solar cells with the certified efficiency of 26.09%.
Professor Li's research is to explore the boundaries and fundamentals of photon-to-electron and photon-to-fuel conversion with cost-effective material systems, and translate them into practical clean energy solution, with the assistance of the following integrative approaches: 1) Synthetic chemistry for organic and inorganic hybrid semiconductors; 2) Advanced photophysical investigation of photon-to-charge conversion; 3) High-performance and durable optoelectronic devices. Dr. Li received his PhD in Chemistry from Fudan University, through the joint training with Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, CAS. And then he worked with Prof. Eiichi Nakamura as research scientist for Exploratory Research for Advanced Technology (ERATO) program, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the University of Tokyo. In 2010, he joined Prof. Alex Jen group in the University of Washington, where he was the OPV thrust leader. He has published over 180 research papers (averaged IF per paper > 10, H-index of 65), with the citation over 15000 times. His original contribution has been recognized and highlighted by experts and journals as Hot Article, Hot Review and Top-ten most read paper etc. In addition to perform fundamental research, Dr. Li is also working on technology translation of organic and organic-inorganic hybrid thin-film photovoltaics. With his original contribution in optoelectronic material chemistry, he has being recognized as Emerging Investigator (2017) of Journal of Materials Chemistry A, top 1% of highly cited Chinese authors (2019, 2020) in Energy & Sustainability portfolio of RSC journals, and global highly cited researcher (2019- 2022) by Clarivate Analytics.
