DING Xu, City planner, Associate Pro. of college of civil engineer & architecture, Zhejiang University.Specially appointed researcher of regional and urban development research center, Zhejiang University. He studied in the school of architecture, received a Ph. D. in urban planning from Southeast University, and received a master's degree in urban planning from Zhejiang University. In 2009, As a visiting scholar at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel in Germany, he has given a LECTURE to introduce the ideas and practices of Chinese urban planning. He has been named top ten teachers , advanced individual of the serving college for many years.

In recent years, he has hosted 4 Major projects (including ２ National Social Science Fund) and 2 General projects (including 1 key project of the Provincial Social Science Funds) and Participated in 1 National Natural Science Fund and 3 provincial projects.

The key theme of his research has been a series of planning projects,　such as Detailed planning,　Master planning and Residential district planning in his early career. Then he transferred to the research of social housing, mainly on the control of residential isolation, social housing space model and appropriate constructability evaluation. His current work is focused on rural settlements research,　urban design and city renewal planning.
