Dr. Jiang's research interests include fluid mechanics, geomechanics, and coastal and offshore engineering, while his main research expertise includes fundamental fluid mechanics of bluff-body flows (e.g. wake structure, turbulence, vortex-induced vibration (VIV), flow-structure-sediment interaction, flow control, etc.) and its applications to improved design and safer operations of the sub-sea pipelines/cables used in the offshore oil and gas and renewable energy industries (e.g. regarding on-bottom stability, local scour, and VIV response of the pipeline).
Dr. Jiang has authored 25 journal papers in mainstream international peer-reviewed journals in fluid mechanics and geomechanics. As the lead author, he has published 18 journal papers, including 9 in Journal of Fluid Mechanics and 6 in Physics of Fluids, arguably the two best journals in fluid mechanics. He has been an assessor for Australian Research Council Discovery Project and a reviewer for Journal of Fluid Mechanics (20+ times) and Physics of Fluids (15+ times).
