Hongliang Chen is a “Hundred Talents Program” Assistant Professor in the College of Media Studies and International Culture at Zhejiang University. Prior to joining ZJU, he was a research scientist in Steve Hicks School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. He received the M.A degree majoring in Media Studies from the University of Connecticut in 2013, and doctoral degree majoring in Communication Studies at the Texas A&M University in 2017. He conducts theoretically driven research with real-world implications, centering on public risk communication, sexual violence prevention, social impacts of communication technology, and Internet privacy protection. His research has appeared in top journals, including New Media & Society, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, Telematics and Informatics, Journal of Health Communication,Computers in Human Behavior, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. His study has been externally funded by Social Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province (China)and National Social Science Fund of China.
