Jie Wang is a Qiushi Distinguished Professor in the Department of Engineering Mechanics at Zhejiang University. He obtained his bachelor degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1998, his master degree from Lanzhou University in 2002, and his Ph.D. degree from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2006. He served as a postdoctoral research associate at HKUST from 2006 to 2007 and as a Humboldt research fellow at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany from 2007 to 2009. He joined Zhejiang University as an associate professor in 2009 and was promoted to full professor in 2015. From 2012 to 2014, he was a visiting research fellow at Kyoto University, supported by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).

His research primarily focus on the first-principle calculations and phase field modeling of the multi-field coupling properties of ferroelectric, ferromagnetic, and multiferroic materials. He has led over 10 national or provincial fund projects. With more than 200 SCI papers published in renowned journals such as Nature Communications, PNAS, Physical Review Letters, Nano Letters, Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids, and Acta Materialia, his contributions to the field are highly recognized.

He has received numerous awards and honors, including the Xu Zhilun Mechanics Outstanding Teacher Award from the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in 2015, and being named among the world's top 2% scientists for "Lifetime Scientific Impact" in 2024. He has delivered dozens of invited talks at international conferences, including two IUTAM symposia. He has also organized or co-organized several international symposia and workshops, such as the 5th International Symposium on Phase-Field Modelling in Materials Science (PF24). Additionally, he serves as an Editorial Board Member for Scientific Reports and Materials and Microstructures.
