  • Room 401A, Institute of Refrigeration and Cryogenics, Zhejiang University, Zheda Road 38, Hangzhou 310027
Dr. Kai Wang is a tenure-track Research Professor at Zhejiang University. He received his B.Eng. degree in Energy and Environment Systems Engineering and Ph.D. degree in Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics from Zhejiang University in 2009 and 2014, respectively. After his PhD, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Energy Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University from 2014 to 2017 and then in the Clean Energy Processes (CEP) Laboratory at Imperial College London before he returned to Zhejiang University as a faculty member in 2019. He has published 1 book, 2 book chapters, more than 70 peer-reviewed journal articles in the areas of liquid-hydrogen production, storage and refueling, organic Rankine cycles, thermoacoustic engines/coolers, solar-thermal systems and their co-/trigeneration systems. His research currently focuses on heat & mass transfer processes in various liquid hydrogen technologies and related systems, including large-scale hydrogen liquefaction processes, cryogenic hydrogen heat exchanger with continuous ortho-para hydrogen catalytic conversion, efficient liquid hydrogen storage, liquid hydrogen refueling pumps and systems, etc. He is the recipient of the Sadi Carnot Award from the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR), one of the IIR Scientific Awards for young researchers working on thermodynamics.
