Longer Bio:
Dr. Qiang Yang held the BS degree (first class honors) in Electrical Engineering and received the M.Sc. (with distinction) and Ph.D. degree both in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Queen Mary College, University of London, London, U.K., in 2003 and 2007, respectively. He has worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Imperial College London, U.K., from 2007 to 2010 and involved in a number of high-profile U.K. EPSRC and European IST research projects. He visited University of British Columbia and University of Victoria Canada as a visiting scholar in 2015 and 2016. Currently he is a Full Professor at College of Electrical Engineering, Zhejiang University, China. He has participated in a number of key research projects supported by a variety funding bodies, including National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Key Research and Development Program of China, Chinese National Programs for High Technology Research and Development (863 Program) and National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 Program). He has published more than 140 technical papers, including more than 50 full journal papers (accumulated impact factor is over 70, highest IF=7.182), and more than 80 international conference papers. He has also applied over 50 national patents, co-authored 2 books and 7 book chapters. He is the Senior Member of IEEE, member of IET and IEICE as well as the Senior Member of China Computer Federation (CCF). He is also the reviewers of several IEEE/IET journals, e.g. IEEE Trans. Power System, Smart Grid, Sustainable Energy, Power Delivery, Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Elsevier Appl. Energy, Energy, IET Comms., Renewable Power Gen., Power Gen. Trans. & Dist. The research interests of the applicant over the years include: smart energy networks, data-driven fault detection and analysis of renewable energy systems, electric cyber-physical system modeling, control and optimization.
New edited book upcoming: Control, Communication and Optimization of Smart Power Distribution Systems: Efficient and Secure Operation of Smart Grids, Ed. Q. Yang, T. Yang and W. Li, Elsevier Press, ISBN: 9780128121542, Sept. 2018.
I am continuously looking for self-motivated Master thesis students and/or PhD candidates (with the background in math, electrical engineering, control engineering, power systems, computer science, communication, or related areas) in the areas of smart energy systems and microgrids, cyberphysical system management and complex system modeling and optimization. Please feel free to email me with your CV if you are interested.
