Huang Huaxin, born in Cixi City, Zhejiang Province, is a professor of the School of Philosophy, the director of Faculty of Arts and Humanities，Zhejiang University, and the director of the Center for the Study of Language and Cognition (one of National Centers for Philosophy, and Social Science Innovation Bases). With research interests mainly in logic, language and cognition, he provides supervision for doctoral students in the following academic fields, including logic, linguistics and applied linguistics.  He also serves as the vice president of the Chinese Society of Logic, director of the Scientific Logic Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Logic, member of Philosophy Education Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, and the president of the Zhejiang Society of Logic. He boasts the following titles, including National Excellent Teachers, Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education in the New Century, Excellent Teachers and Famous Teachers of Zhejiang Province Apart from that, he receives the special allowance of the State Council. His lectures include Introduction to Logic, Logic and Thinking, Logic of Language, Cognitive Pragmatics and Semiotics, etc. He is now the chief expert of Cognitive Research Based on Logical Perspective, a major project of the National Social Science Fund. He has presided over or engaged in more than 10 national and provincial level projects and published 8 monographs and textbooks in China Social Science Press, Shanghai Oriental publishing center, Jilin people's publishing house, Zhejiang science and Technology Press and Zhejiang University press. More than 40 of his papers have been published in journals such as Social Sciences in China, Journal of Logic and Computation, Journal of Pragmatics, Philosophical Researches. The Essence of Fallacy and Truth: The Goal of Scientific Exploration was warded Jin Yuelin Outstanding Academic Achievements in 1991 and 1995 respectively. The Logical Analysis of Natural Language was awarded the first prize of Outstanding Achievements in Social Science of Zhejiang Higher Education System in 2000.Logic and Natural Language Understanding was awarded the third prize of Outstanding Achievements of the Ministry of Education in 2003.Survey of Public Humanities and Social Sciences Literacy and Needs in Zhejiang Province was awarded the second prize of Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences of Zhejiang Province in 2008. Representation and Development of Cognition was awarded the second prize of Outstanding Achievements of the Ministry of Education in 2009.Excellent and Open Course Construction of Literature, History and Philosophy was awarded the second prize of National Teaching Achievement and the first prize of Outstanding Teaching Achievements of Zhejiang Province. Metaphor Interpretation and Motivation in Relevance Theory was awarded the third prize of Outstanding Achievements in philosophy and Social Sciences of Zhejiang Province in 2015.
