Dr. Xinhui Wang, mainly focused on regulations of nutritional factors and antioxidant system in the metabolism related diseases, clarify the regulation network among different nutritional factors (e.g. Selenium), metabolites (e.g. glucose and lipid), antioxidant enzymes (e.g. Gpx1, Sod1, and Catalase), and toxic metabolic by-products (e.g. ROS, ALE, and AGE) in the metabolism related diseases. Based on bioinformatics data, gene knockout models, and drug administrations, clarify the signaling regulation and networks in different tissues. Develop new drug targets for rebalancing the signaling pathways in the metabolism related diseases. Using specific animal methods evaluate the physiological effects of micronutrients on different tissues or certain cell types (e.g. pancreatic islet β cells, macrophage, and liver cells). Clarify the specific signaling pathways of different micronutrients on the cell viability, apoptosis, and function. Fine-tune the altered genes by targeted medicines or iRNAs to rebalance the signaling pathways.
