Dr. Yushi Yao did his PhD training in the National Key Laboratory of Medical Immunology, Second Military Medical University in 2006-2009, and postdoctoral training in McMaster Immunology Research Centre (McMaster University) in 2015-2018. Dr. Yao joined in the Department of Immunology, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, in February 2019. In September 2019, Dr. Yao was appointed as part-time professor in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital affiliated to Zhejiang University School of Medicine. Dr. Yao's research field includes infectious immunology, mucosal immunology, and immunological memory. By using diversified experimental techniques, the lab led by Dr. Yao aims at deciphering inter-cellular mechanisms in mucosal infectious immunology and developing improved vaccines. Current research directions are: 1) Respiratory mucosal infectious immunology and mucosal vaccine, 2) Innate immune memory generation, differentiation, and maintenance in macrophages, and 3) mucosal T cell immune memory.
