Tao Jin received the Ph.D. degree  in physical electronics from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, in 1995.  From 1996 to 1998, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow with Institute of physical electronics,  Zhejiang University.

Since 1998, he has been a Staff Member with the College of Information Science and Electronic Engineering, Zhejiang University, Zhejiang, China. He is currently a professor of physical electronics with Zhejiang University, and is the Head of Research Center for Perception Technologies & Intelligent Systems, Department of Electronic Engineering. His current research interests include microwave photonics, optical fiber sensors, optical communication techniques,  signal processing.
